A Martial Arts Sanctuary Without Flashy Special Effects
Kung Fu Clan —legend has it that it was founded by a master of unparalleled skill. Generations of disciples have honed their unique techniques here, becoming undefeated champions in the martial world. For anyone looking to elevate their martial arts prowess, this is a must-visit destination.
One day, several martial arts enthusiasts came seeking guidance. Among them were: a seasoned stuntman accustomed to being a body double for big stars, a wanderer from the martial world with little else to his name, and a university graduate with a quality education.
In this day and age, is martial arts still pursued solely for fitness?
Their goal was singular: to master martial arts and avoid disappointing their families.
Before they could learn techniques like the “Powerful Vajra Kick,” the “Soul-Crushing Palm,” the “Electric Dragon Drill,” or the “Water-Gliding Light Step,” they underwent a complete transformation.
So, was it the masters’ brilliance or an ultimate secret manual?
Director’s Note
In the martial world, I once heard a very cool phrase: “My name is… If you want to know who I am, go ask your master!”
Since then, I’ve wanted to make a name for myself in this world.
It’s said that anyone who ventures out into the world will apprentice under a master, learning at least a trick or two to avoid being overwhelmed by experts. I see myself as good material—just in need of guidance from skilled mentors. With their wisdom, my dedication, and time, I’m confident I’ll accomplish something and earn recognition.
However, the path of learning is no easy journey. Before even beginning, I’d ask, “Master, where are you?” Then, during my training, I’d ask, “Master, what will you teach me?” Again, “Master, how will you teach me?” Repeatedly, “Master, do you have any ultimate techniques?” “Master, who was your master?”
I hope my masters won’t blame me for not showing enough reverence—I only wanted to learn properly and avoid going astray, like some senior apprentices. But each lesson from my masters has left a mark on me, enriching me for life. That’s because they are all from Kung Fu Clan.
One day, if I make a name for myself and someone comes seeking my guidance, I’ll gladly answer these same questions to repay the kindness of my masters’ teachings.
With utmost gratitude to all my masters, who taught this young aspirant what it means to encounter realms beyond realms and people beyond people:
Mother, Father, Brother, Wesley, Akira Kurosawa, The Beatles, Wai Wai Wai, Mr. Ho, Tai Chi, Philip Fok, Shu Wing, my performing arts teachers, Haruki Murakami, Mr. Ko, Mok, Dan, Aaron, Sammy and Kitty, Yon, Wing Chun, Little Brother, Mr. Colin, Mime, Grandmother, Ah Jim, Miss Lo, Candy, and the Lord Jesus…
